Monday will see the release of the Michelin guide to UK & Eire 2019 at an IMAX cinema in Waterloo, London.

The past 12-18months has seen quite a few developments which will have surely caught the inspeactor’s eye; new openigs too late for the 2018 guide & those with pedigrees settling into their stride.

That said, and in all the years I’ve written a post like this, there are rumours of demotions from the 2* bracket. It would be unfair to name but Michelin have a right to protect their standards & brand, and let’s face it when restaurants in that bracket are charging £32 for a fillet of fish and it’s discribed as ‘average’, you can see why it might happen.

Anyway, on to the reason why you are here, the predictions:

New 3*
  • Core by Claire Smyth, London
New 2*
  • Moor Hall, Lancashire
  • Casamia, Bristol
New 1*
  • The Flitch of Bacon, Essex
  • Cornerstone (Tom Brown), London
  • Sabor, London
  • Hide (above), London
  • The Vineyard, Berkshire
  • The Blackbird, Berkshire
  • Idle Rocks, Cornwall
  • Old Downton Lodge, Shropshire
  • Adam Reid at The French, Manchester

  • Sorrel, Surrey

I’m sure the usual bunch of nay sayers like Rayner & Shitwell will dribble on about the relevance of Michelin, but let’s face it MIchelin was here before them & will remain long after.

Just a reminder from Michelin themselves, it’s all about the food:
